SACRAMENTO, CA - Former West Sacramento cop Sergio Alvarez is already facing charges that he sexually assaulted at least six women while in uniform. Now, a new possible victim is coming forward for the first time to share her story.

Ripon police arrest suspected drug dealer

RIPON, CA - A Ripon police special investigation team took some controlled substances and drugs off the street early Thursday.

First Sgt. Steve Merchant said the officers executed a warrant at a home on the 200 block of N. Elm Avenue and recovered crystal methamphetamine, prescription drugs, concentrated cannabis, marijuana, scales, narcotics paraphernalia including items typically used in the packaging and sale of illegal drugs.

They also arrest 46-year-old Ernest Manuel Navarez. He was booked into San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of marijuana for sale, possession of concentrated cannabis, and possession of controlled substance paraphernalia.

Ripon man suspected of raping minor

RIPON, CA - A Ripon man suspected of raping a minor was arrested Friday around 10:15 a.m.

Michael Paul Rogers, 28, was booked into San Joaquin County Jail for felony rape charges, Ripon police Sgt. Steve Merchant said.

The charges include rape by force of fear, sex with a minor, oral copulation of a minor and felony sexual battery.

Merchant did not release any more details because it is a sensitive case and is still under investigation.

Ripon man accused to trying to kill family

RIPON, CA - A 4-year-old child escaped serious injury or worse when his father intentionally slammed his Honda into a utility pole Monday, according to Ripon police.

The child, and his mother who was also in the car, had minor injuries.

The father, 24-year-old David Allen Goulet, was arrested for attempted vehicular manslaughter, kidnapping, false imprisonment, and child cruelty charges, said police 1st Sgt. Steve Merchant.

The crash was preceded by an argument between Goulet and the woman on the 500 block of N. Stockton Avenue with the man grabbing the child and the child's mother jumping in the Honda as Goulet started driving away, Merchant said.
